HIV drugs ‘add 13 years of life’
I don’t know if I should be glad about this news, or sad by the treatment of this topic.
After reading this article at BBC News Online, I was happy to hear that the life expectancy of an HIV infected person is longer than it has been in the past, I was not happy to hear that these doctors have now classified HIV/Aids as a chronic disease in the vien of Diabetes.
Now, I am no expert, but how can this be? If my memory serves me correct, HIV/Aids is always fatal in that your body is no longer able to defend itself against the normal diseases and infections that most people are able to tolerate. Diabetes, while it is a difficult disease to live with, you generally do not die from a diabetes related complication. You will die from an HIV/Aids related complication, always.
But like I have always said, I am no expert. I am a layman when it comes to diseases and such. All I am stating here is my interperatation of what I have read and learned.
Well kids, let me know what you all think. Comment away.
