Scientists Make Breakthrough in HIV Drug Research

Good Morning Kiddies!

I know I have posted about something like this before, I think I have anyway.

Via Reuters.com:British and U.S. researchers said they had grown a crystal that enabled them to see the structure of an enzyme called integrase, which is found in retroviruses like HIV and is a target for some of the newest HIV medicines.

What does this mean? Well, according to the article, it means that they have discovered where certain HIV medicines affect the HIV virus and how it prevents the virus from putting its DNA into cells.

I think that this is fabulous news. Even if it has taken 20 years to find. I hope they continue this work so that one day they can finally find the link that needs to be destroyed to end the threat of HIV forever.
