AT&T to Resolve Sick Leave Situation with Regard to Gay Couple

Hi there Kiddies,

I was checking up on the post that I put up the other day about the AT&T worker who has been using up his vacation time to care for his sick partner. It appears that AT&T Corp.  has decided to look into the matter.

They said, and I am lifting this directly from my fav source (towleroad.com): “AT&T regrets that there has been confusion over the administration of family leave with respect to registered domestic partners. AT&T has taken steps to ensure that FMLA is extended to employees with registered domestic partners for the purpose of caring for the partner, regardless of the state in which the employee resides. AT&T has a long history of inclusiveness and we embrace and celebrate diversity of race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation in our workforce.

So, I am not sure if the company got a ton of calls and emails from angry gays and lesbians, or if someone in their higher ups say this on a blog somewhere and decided to fix it before, as someone who posted a comment on the original article said: “AT&T does realize that if all the gay men in the US returned their jewel encrusted iPhones, they would have no iPhone users right??”  While this may not be totally true, it is to an extent that if every gay man did dispose of their iPhones, they would have about 1/3rd the income that they have now.

Anywhose, I am happy to see that this tragedy may have a happy ending after all.
