AT&T, NOT as GLBT Friendly as they say!
Hi there Kiddies,
I am a little miffed today. I was perusing my fav site (say it with me now kids: Towleroad.com) and I came across an article about two gay men who have been together for 30 years, and how AT&T has denied its employee FMLA time to care for his sick partner.
“Bryan Dickenson and Bill Sugg have been together for 30 years. Sugg suffered a stroke in September and Dickenson, who has worked for AT&T for the past 12 years, is using vacation time so he can visit Sugg for one afternoon a week at a rehabilitation facility because AT&T refuses to give Dickenson the 12 weeks of sick leave that would be offered to heterosexual spouses in the same circumstances.” This is clearly another reason for the Federal Gov’t to get involved and first off, revoke DOMA, and legalize gay marriage across the country. Or, if they are not going to do this, revoke all special privileges for married couples. I say if it is not good for the goose, then it is not good for the gander.
I for one am sick and tired of hearing about all the “special rights” that straight breeders seem to think that they are “entitled” to just because they can produce untold amounts of children. So what!! Maybe if some of those could learn to keep their dicks in their pants, or their legs crossed as proper ladies should, we would not be in such state as we are in with increasing amounts of people all vying for the same space and resources. We really do not need a billion people living with-in our borders. Look at the chaos that is China. They have one sixth of the total world population and while they have more “room” to grow into, maybe they should stop now before they lose all available resources.
Well, anyway, back to my main point. These gentlemen want nothing more than what every single straight couple has by law. The right to care for the one they love with out the fear of losing ones job and income and ability to care for themselves and their loved ones. Which could be a very real occurrence if AT&T continues to stick to its policy of only being fair as required by law?
As usual kiddies, comment comment! I want to hear what you think! Tell me I am wrong or right, or somewhere in the middle (even if you think I am WAY off base here!). I want to hear your thoughts and comments. I don’t bite, hard anyway!!
